A panel entitled “Knowledge Beyond Borders: Information and Document Management in Azerbaijan” was organized within the framework of the 62nd Library Week events held in Türkiye through the joint initiative of the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU) and the Department of Information and Records Management of Bartın University.
The moderator of the event, Associate Professor Ahmet Altay, Head of the Department of Information and Records Management at Bartın University, emphasized that the purpose of Library Week, held annually in Türkiye since 1964, is to increase public interest in library education and library and information services and to contribute to achieving better outcomes in these fields. He noted that the week-long program includes conferences, panel discussions, visits to libraries, exhibition halls, and museums, meetings with distinguished public figures, lectures, and masterclasses.
Ahmet Altay highlighted that since 2021, BSU’s Faculty of Information and Document Management has actively participated as an organizer in Library Week events in Türkiye. Within this framework, cooperation with universities and professional institutions involved in training specialists in library and information science, museum studies, and archival studies has been continuously strengthened, leading to the organization of joint masterclasses, lectures, and international scientific conferences.
During the panel, Associate Professor Nadir Ismayilov, Head of the Department of Document Management at BSU, and Associate Professor Parviz Kazimi of the Department of Library Science delivered presentations on Azerbaijan’s library and information environment, BSU’s leading role in educating professionals in the field, and international cooperation. Particular attention was given to the growing collaboration with higher education institutions in Türkiye, including the organization of joint scientific conferences, panels, discussions, masterclasses, and scientific seminars.
The discussions held during the panel attracted considerable interest from participants, who addressed numerous questions to the speakers.
