Sustainable Development Goals at Baku State University.

On 17 September 2025, an alumni meeting titled “Path to Success – Alumni Experience” was organized at the Faculty of Biology of Baku State University (BSU) for first-year students.

Opening the event, the Dean of the Faculty, Afat Mammadova, highlighted the achievements of the Faculty’s graduates, noting with pride that many alumni continue their education and engage in scientific research at prestigious universities both in Azerbaijan and abroad. She informed first-year students, who had just begun their academic journey as members of the Biology family, about the opportunities and prospects available to them and ways to benefit from these opportunities in the future.

The event featured Shovkat Aliverdibayli, a 2019–2023 graduate of the Biology program, who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Medical Genetics at Eskisehir Osmangazi University in Türkiye. Sharing his personal academic journey, he spoke about the importance of perseverance, research skills, and effectively utilizing international opportunities to achieve one’s goals.

He also discussed his scientific research on the genetic basis of neurodegenerative diseases and pharmacogenetics, his thesis topic, and the international scholarships he has received. Shovkat Aliverdibayli encouraged students to continuously develop their knowledge, actively participate in scientific activities, and firmly believe in their goals.

The meeting continued in an interactive format, with students’ questions answered in an open discussion, and concluded in a warm and sincere atmosphere.
