Representatives of the National Academy of Modernization under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences of the People’s Republic of China visited Baku State University (BSU).
The delegation was provided with comprehensive information about the history of BSU, its scientific research and educational activities, as well as its international relations. It was noted that BSU, the country’s largest and oldest higher education institution, currently offers education in 78 undergraduate majors, 243 master’s specializations, and 131 doctoral programs. With more than 25,000 students, the University comprises 120 departments, 2 research institutes, 22 research laboratories, and 5 research centers. BSU maintains close cooperation with higher education institutions in China, implements dual-degree programs, and is interested in further expanding collaboration with Chinese scientific institutions across various fields.
The guests spoke about the main areas of activity of the National Academy of Modernization under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, noting that the Academy conducts research on the Chinese model of modernization, its theory and history, comparative analyses with other countries, and studies in social and economic fields. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan plays an important role both in the context of the ancient Silk Road and the modern “Belt and Road” Initiative. In this regard, cooperation with BSU, as Azerbaijan’s leading university, would be beneficial for conducting research on various aspects of modernization, as well as social and economic policy.
The meeting included discussions on multiple areas of cooperation, during which concrete proposals were put forward.
