Sustainable Development Goals at Baku State University.

A meeting was held at Baku State University (BSU) with a delegation from the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) of the People's Republic of China.

The meeting was attended by BSU Vice-Rector for International Relations Shahin Panahov, Rector’s Advisor on Quality Assurance Asiman Ilyasov, Head of the International Relations Department Rauf Hasanov, GEIDCO Deputy Director Xu Ming, General Manager of the Cooperation Department Yu Kaifeng, General Manager of the Membership Department Gao Ming, Senior Researcher at the Economics and Technology Research Institute Gao Chao, Director of the East Europe and Central Asia Office Xupeng Chen, and Office Representative Zhou Pengchao.

During the meeting, the guests were provided with a comprehensive overview of the university’s history, structure, academic and scientific activities. In turn, the GEIDCO representatives presented the main directions of the organization's work, emphasizing that the core mission of GEIDCO is to promote sustainable development in the global energy sector, meet the growing global energy demand with clean and green alternatives, and support the implementation of the UN's “Sustainable Energy for All” initiative and “Climate Action” goals.

The parties also discussed potential collaboration on projects aimed at capacity building in higher education and joint efforts within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It is worth noting that GEIDCO currently has 1,346 members from 142 countries, 7 regional offices, 72 national representative offices, and 6 regional committees.
