The Faculty of History of Baku State University (BSU) and the Yasamal District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) jointly organized an event titled “Return to Our Historical Lands”, dedicated to the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” and the Victory Day – 8 November.
The ceremony began with the performance of the State Anthem, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
Later, a video prepared by the students of the Faculty of History—dedicated to Victory Day and presented in three languages (Azerbaijani, Russian, English)—was showcased.
Dean of the BSU Faculty of History Ibrahim Zeynalov noted that the 44-day Patriotic War, the greatest victory in our two-century-long history, ensured the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and fully reaffirmed state sovereignty. He emphasized that under the leadership of President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, this historic Victory has, for five years now, brought peace, stability, and lasting prosperity to the Karabakh region.
Chairman of the YAP Yasamal District Organization Bakhtiyar Nabiyev stated that this Victory was not limited to military achievements. It ushered in a new stage—the revitalization of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, the implementation of the “Great Return” process, and the establishment of regional peace. Over the past five years, extensive reconstruction projects, international cooperation, and diplomatic initiatives have further strengthened Azerbaijan’s global standing. He recalled President Ilham Aliyev’s post-war statement, “We will revive these lands and turn Karabakh into a paradise”, adding that today these words are being fully realized.
Chairman of the YAP Yasamal District “Z. Khalilov Street 33” (BSU) Territorial Party Organization, Professor Zahid Jafarov, underlined that, on the fifth anniversary of the historic Victory, the initialing of the peace agreement in Washington represents the logical continuation of the triumph achieved during the 44-day war.
The event continued with an artistic program prepared by the students.
