Scientific seminar by Ankara University professor held at BSU
02-12-2025

On 2 December 2025, within the framework of the IX International Conference “Modern Trends in Physics” at Baku State University (BSU), a scientific seminar was held by Professor Iman Asgarzade from Ankara University, Turkey.

Professor Asgarzade delivered a presentation on “Josephson Effect in Superconductors”, providing detailed information on a new class of multiband and anisotropic superconductors, including Mg₂B, borocarbides, and FeAs-based compounds. He also shared the results of his research on the dynamics of Josephson contacts based on these new types of superconductors.

During the seminar, the scientist noted that he was the first researcher to include an intergradient interaction term between structural parameters in the functional of the Ginzburg–Landau free energy, taking into account the “conjugation” effect. According to him, this approach was later applied to the study of multiband superconductors and various topological compounds, allowing the discovery of new physical properties such as frustration effects.

Professor Asgarzade also discussed his work on the study of Josephson circuits and the properties of quantum bits built on them. He noted that in his research, the dynamics of balanced Josephson comparators powered by a single quantum flow were analyzed for the first time, a linear theory of time resolution was proposed, and it was determined to be at the 1 ps level. The effect of anharmonicity on the energy spectrum in the current-phase relationship was calculated using the Hamiltonian formalism for phase, flux, and charge qubits. The results revealed that the parameters of the control circuits significantly affect the characteristics of the qubits.

The scientist also provided information about his recent research on fuzzy logic applications and deep learning methods.
