Sustainable Development Goals at Baku State University.

Baku State University (BSU) held a scientific seminar jointly organized by the Faculties of Mechanics and Mathematics, and Physics.

At the seminar, Professor Azer Ahmadov from the Department of Mathematics of North Dakota State University (USA) delivered a presentation titled “Tits Alternative and Density Alternative in Groups.”

In his talk, Professor Ahmadov noted that the Tits alternative for linear groups was originally proven by J. Tits. This classical and important result has since been established for various other types of groups (group classes). However, for some groups, the problem remains open.

The presentation also covered the concept of density in groups, the proposed density alternative, and its comparison with the Tits alternative.

At the end, a discussion was held around the report, and participants’ questions were answered.
