A scientific seminar titled “Some Aspects of Termination of Property Rights by the Owner’s Will and Against the Owner’s Will” was held at the Faculty of Law of Baku State University (BSU) within the framework of events dedicated to Science Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan (27 March).
Opening the seminar, Head of the Department of Civil Law Shukur Yusifov highlighted the significant role of such academic events in advancing legal science. He emphasized the relevance of the topic in contemporary civil law, noting that issues related to the termination of property rights carry both theoretical and practical importance. He also underlined that such discussions contribute to fostering the scientific development of young researchers and enable deeper analysis of legal challenges.
The presentation was delivered by doctoral student Narmin Eminli, who stressed the importance of the institution of property rights in civil law. She noted that property rights play a crucial role in shaping the economic foundations of society and ensuring the stability of civil circulation.
During her presentation, she drew attention to the principle of inviolability of property rights, which is directly enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She emphasized that economic prosperity and the establishment of the rule of law are closely linked to the effective protection of property rights. In this context, the clear legal regulation of the grounds and procedures for the termination of property rights is of particular importance.
The report provided a comprehensive analysis of cases where property rights are terminated by the owner’s will—such as alienation, waiver, and voluntary disposition—as well as cases occurring against the owner’s will, including requisition, destruction of property, death of the subject, and termination of legal capacity, based on the relevant provisions of the Civil Code.
The seminar concluded with discussions and a Q&A session addressing participants’ questions.
