Scientific seminar on food security issues held at the faculty of Geography

A scientific seminar titled “Food Security Issues of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was held at the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University (BSU).

Opening the seminar, Professor Magsad Gocamanov, Dean of the Faculty of Geography, highlighted the critical importance of ensuring food security in the modern era and emphasized the significance of conducting scientific research in this field. He also informed participants that Vugar Karimli, PhD in Economics and lecturer at the Department of Economic and Social Geography, is the author of several scientific works in the field of economic geography and conducts research on issues related to food security.

During his presentation, Vugar Karimli discussed the importance of studying the balance of imports and exports in ensuring food security in the Republic of Azerbaijan under current conditions. It was noted that in recent years, noticeable changes have occurred in ensuring food security, both in terms of regional distribution and commodity structure. The speaker also presented his proposals regarding the short- and medium-term provision of food security in Azerbaijan and the sustainable development of its structure.

Professors Chingiz Ismayilov and Aydin Ibrahimov; associate professors Ramiz Ahlimanov, Elkhan Nuriyev, Irada Aliyeva, and Narmine Seyfullayeva; as well as PhDs in Geography Shafiqa Humbatova, Gabil Samedov, and others emphasized the relevance of the topic and actively participated in the discussions. Questions addressed to the speaker were answered, and the importance of continuing scientific research in this area was underlined.
