A scientific seminar on “Modeling the Hakari River Using MATLAB” was held at the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University (BSU).
Maqsad Qocamanov, Dean of the Faculty of Geography, emphasized the important role of scientific seminars in improving teaching methods and noted the need for extensive research on liberated territories.
Assoc. Prof. Saleh Naghiyev, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Geography and Geography Teaching Methods, highlighted the richness of water resources in the liberated areas and stressed the importance of modeling them using modern research methods.
The presenter, Assoc. Prof. Banovshe Mehdiyeva, a leading researcher in mathematical modeling, shared her experience conducting studies on river and flood modeling using MATLAB at the State Water Resources Agency’s Water and Melioration Research Institute. She noted the importance of studying the hydrological regime of rivers to ensure efficient use of water resources in liberated territories.
The seminar presented aspects of mathematical modeling of the Hakari River and its tributaries using MATLAB, including average annual flow, water resource management, and flood events. The session concluded with an interactive discussion on the presented research.
