A scientific seminar on the topic “Models Explaining the Earthquake Preparation Cycle” was organized by the TEC (Theoretical and Experimental Geology Club) at the Faculty of Geology of Baku State University (BSU). The event brought together faculty members and students to discuss theoretical and practical aspects of earthquake science. (geology.bdu.info.az)
During the seminar, participants explored various geophysical and geological models that help explain the stages of earthquake preparation — from stress accumulation along faults to precursory phenomena observed before seismic events. Presenters highlighted how these models contribute to understanding the mechanisms of earthquake genesis, interpret field and laboratory data, and support future research into seismic risk assessment and mitigation. The seminar also included discussion segments where students and researchers exchanged insights and ideas on ongoing studies in earthquake science. (geology.bdu.info.az)
