Seminar on “18 October – Restoration of Independence” held at the faculty of Geography
17-10-2025

A seminar event titled “18 October – Restoration of Independence”, dedicated to Independence Restoration Day, was held at the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University (BSU). The event was jointly organized by the faculty administration and the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC).

Opening the seminar, Professor Magsad Gocamanov, Dean of the Faculty of Geography, welcomed the participants and emphasized that the Azerbaijani people did not achieve independence easily. He noted that thousands of martyrs were sacrificed, much blood was shed, and many veterans were disabled on this path. He underlined that today Azerbaijan is a fully independent, sovereign, and victorious country with its territorial integrity restored.

The floor was then given to Associate Professor Atamoghlan Mammadli from the Department of History of Asian and African Countries at the Faculty of History. In his speech, he provided a historical and chronological overview of the road to independence, expanding students’ knowledge and perspectives on the subject.

A video presentation titled “18 October – Restoration of Independence,” prepared by students Nigar Mammadli and Aydan Nasibova, was met with great interest. Presentations by Zeynab Talibova, a first-year student; Narmin Mammadova, a fourth-year student; and Rashad Allahverdiyev, a first-year student, added further value and diversity to the seminar.
