On 5 March 2026, second-year students of the Library and Information Activities programme at the Faculty of Information and Records Management of Baku State University (BSU) took part in a practical training session at the Central Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
The practical class was conducted within the framework of the Electronic Catalogue course under the supervision of Associate Professor Rashad Gardashov from the Department of Library and Information Resource Management.
The session began with an introductory presentation by the library’s director, Doctor of Technical Sciences Huseyn Huseynov, who provided detailed information about the institution’s activities, operational principles, and modern library and information services. He highlighted ongoing developments in electronic services, the creation of the electronic library, and the digitization of publications. Particular attention was given to the implementation of an enhanced voice-search function on the library’s website and the development of an artificial intelligence-based Library Guide system.
As part of the practical training, students visited the Reprography Department and the Department of Digitization and Management of Library Resources. The library’s Deputy Director for Digitization, Innovation, and Electronic Services, PhD in History Oruc Guliyev, together with departmental staff, demonstrated various library processes and digital resource management practices. Students were given the opportunity to observe these operations firsthand and actively participate in selected stages of the workflow.
The practical session enabled students to gain valuable experience in contemporary library technologies, digital resource management, and electronic information services, strengthening the connection between academic learning and professional practice.
