The important role of Azerbaijan in ensuring regional economic security is being studied at BSU
A scientific seminar titled “International transport corridors and regional economic security challenges of Azerbaijan” was held at the Faculty of International Relations and Economics of Baku State University (BSU).
At the seminar, Associate Professor of the Department of World Economy, PhD in Economics Habil Aslanov delivered a presentation. In his speech, he extensively analyzed the growing role of international transport corridors in the global and regional economic system.
The speaker emphasized Azerbaijan’s favorable geographical position, noting that the country is located at the intersection of major routes such as the East-West Transport Corridor and the North-South Transport Corridor. This factor not only increases Azerbaijan’s transit potential but also plays an important role in ensuring regional economic security.
During the seminar, issues such as the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, diversification of international trade flows, and management of geo-economic risks were also discussed. It was noted that efficient use of transport corridors contributes to the expansion of the country’s foreign economic relations, growth of export opportunities, and strengthening of economic resilience.
In addition, the importance of economic integration opportunities in the post-conflict period, the opening of transport and communication lines, and the implementation of regional projects contributing to the peace process were highlighted. It was stated that strengthening economic interdependence is one of the key factors ensuring long-term stability in the region.
At the end, participants held discussions on the topic and questions were answered.
