Baku State University (BSU) provides a mandatory and structured programme on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including dedicated coverage of the social dimensions of sustainability, for students, academic staff, and professional staff members. Mandatory annual dedicated training on social aspects of sustainability for staff (faculty + professional staff) and students. This institutional training initiative is designed to ensure systematic capacity building and awareness-raising on key social sustainability themes such as equality, inclusion, social responsibility, and sustainable development in higher education. The programme is implemented as part of BSU’s quality assurance and institutional development framework and reflects a whole-institution approach, engaging both staff and students in sustainability learning and practice. The training activities are organized on a regular basis and demonstrate BSU’s commitment to integrating SDG principles into teaching, research, and institutional governance across the university community.
A series of capacity-building training sessions for staff and students on the integration of the SDGs into teaching and research, importance of social aspects of sustainability has been successfully implemented and continues as an institutional initiative led by the BSU Quality Assurance Center. These trainings are organized under the leadership of the Rector’s Advisor on Quality Assurance and are aimed at ensuring institutional-wide awareness and application of sustainability principles.
