10-04-2026

The presentation of the book “International Cooperation in the Post-Soviet Space: Former Soviet Republics and Theories of International Politics” by Associate Professor Farhad Huseynov of the Department of International Relations was held at Baku State University (BSU). The book was published by the prestigious Bloomsbury Academic in the United States and has been included in the catalog of the Library of Congress.

Chair of the Family, Women and Children Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Diplomacy and Modern Integration Processes at BSU, Professor Hijran Huseynova, highly appreciated the research, noting that it evaluates existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation formats in the context of security issues. She emphasized that presenting Azerbaijan’s regional policy as a model of cooperation and stability in the book is not coincidental.

Member of Parliament Soltan Mammadov highlighted the scientific, political, and geopolitical significance of the work, noting its usefulness for studying the system of international relations in the region.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina Vilayat Guliyev подчеркнул the importance of further studying internal political, economic, and institutional factors influencing the foreign policy behavior of states in the post-Soviet space.

Vice President for Communications and External Affairs in the Caspian region at BP and member of the BSU Board of Trustees Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli noted that the comparative analysis of historical events with political theories requires high professionalism and contributes to enhancing analytical skills among young people. He expressed confidence that the book would become an important resource for students.

Head of the socio-political programs studio of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC Tofig Abbasov, political analyst and journalist Teymur Atayev, and BSU professors Khalid Niyazov and Ramiz Sevdimaliyev also emphasized the importance of the book for analyzing regional processes within the international relations system.

In his concluding remarks, the author Farhad Huseynov thanked the organizers and noted that the book was published following his presentation at an international conference held in May 2022 at Columbia University. He added that the book’s inclusion in the Library of Congress catalog is a significant indicator of its recognition within the international academic community.
