Sustainable Development Goals at Baku State University.

A research laboratory on plant biotechnology and immunology is being established at Baku State University (BSU).

The decision was adopted by the Scientific Council of BSU.

It was noted that climate change currently poses serious challenges for both the environment and the agricultural sector. Conducting scientific research to address these issues and strengthening the country’s capacity of qualified specialists in this field remain highly relevant. Therefore, it has been decided to establish a research laboratory at BSU to study plant adaptation mechanisms to abiotic and biotic stress factors, using innovative technologies to address problems such as climate change, soil salinization and drought, plant diseases and pathogens, as well as declining productivity.

In addition to conducting research in plant stress biology, the laboratory will focus on applying modern biotechnological approaches, developing innovative scientific solutions for agriculture, and engaging young researchers in scientific activities. The main mission of the laboratory is to direct research outcomes toward solving challenges in the agricultural and environmental sectors, develop relevant projects, and support their practical implementation.
