An event dedicated to April 24 – the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace was held at Baku State University (BSU).
The event, organized by the “Yeni Club” operating within the university, brought together students, faculty members, and young people interested in international relations.
Vice-Rector for International Relations at BSU, Shahin Panahov, noted that the main objective of the event was to increase young people’s interest in international relations and raise awareness in the field of diplomacy. He emphasized that multilateral diplomacy is one of the key pillars of the modern international relations system, and that such educational initiatives contribute significantly to shaping students’ worldview and enhancing their understanding of global processes.
The special guest of the event was Asmar Yusifzade, Deputy Head of the International Security Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In her speech, she provided detailed insights into the essence of multilateral diplomacy, mechanisms of cooperation within international organizations, global security challenges, and contemporary geopolitical processes. It was noted that multilateral approaches play an important role in strengthening mutual trust between states and ensuring peace and stability. She also highlighted Azerbaijan’s active participation in international platforms, its contribution to the development of multilateral cooperation, and its constructive role in addressing regional and global security issues.
During the meeting, students had the opportunity to enhance their practical knowledge in the field of multilateral diplomacy. Discussions also covered career opportunities in international relations, the specifics of diplomatic service, and the professional skills required in this field.
At the end of the event, participants’ questions were answered.
