BSU student presents research on bird diversity in Garayazi State Nature Reserve
17-03-2026

A scientific seminar was held at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University as part of events dedicated to **Science Day in Azerbaijan. The seminar was organized by the Faculty’s Student Scientific Society (SSS).

During the seminar, second-year student Raul Imanov delivered a presentation entitled “Research on Bird Species Diversity in the Garayazi State Nature Reserve.”

The presentation provided detailed information about the reserve’s geographical location, natural environment, and biological diversity. Particular attention was given to bird species inhabiting wetland, terrestrial, and forest ecosystems, with their distribution patterns and ecological roles analyzed separately. The speaker also highlighted the richness of bird species across different biotopes and emphasized the importance of their conservation.

A key part of the presentation focused on data obtained through field observations conducted within the reserve. Population survey results from 2025 were compared with current-year data, allowing for an assessment of changes in bird populations and the identification of increasing and decreasing trends. The discussion also explored the influence of environmental factors and human activities on bird diversity.

The presentation attracted considerable interest from participants, and numerous questions were addressed during the discussion session. At the end of the seminar, the presenter was awarded a certificate and presented with a book.
