A scientific event titled “Multidisciplinary Research in Archaeology”, dedicated to Science Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan (27 March), was held at the Faculty of History of Baku State University. The event was organized by the “Young Archaeologist” club operating under the Student Scientific Society.
Head of the Department of Archaeology and Ethnography and founder of the club, Associate Professor Tarikh Dostiyev, emphasized the importance of integrating archaeology with modern scientific disciplines. Associate Professor Mammadaga Bakhishov from the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of Europe and America highlighted the significant role of multidisciplinary approaches in shaping the academic development and future research of young scholars.
During the event, second-year History student Maral Alizade delivered a presentation on “Archaeobotany”, underlining the importance of plant remain analysis in the study of ancient settlements and its contribution to generating new sources of knowledge in historiography and archaeology. Another second-year student, Israfil Khayrullayev, presented on “Introduction to Digital Archaeology”, addressing the application of electronic mapping, 3D modeling, and modern technologies in archaeological research.
The event concluded with extensive discussions among participants, highlighting the critical importance of multidisciplinary approaches in advancing archaeological science.
