A team from Baku State University (BSU) won first place among 16 higher education institutions in the “create a green world! – 2” digital solutions hackathon, organized jointly by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan through its “Green ASAN” environmental programme and the International Dialogue for Environmental Action (IDEA) Public Union.
The BSU team members – third-year students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics Tahir Aliyev and Jamil Jafarli, second-year student of the Faculty of Chemistry Aytaj Sadiqova, and fourth-year student of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science Nijat Hasanov – presented an innovative mobile platform project called “Grove,” designed to encourage daily environmentally friendly behavior.
The application developed by the team provides users with daily eco-tasks, verifies their completion through photo submissions, and motivates users through a points and rewards system. The key advantage of the “Grove” project lies not only in raising awareness but also in offering an interactive ecosystem that actively engages individuals in real environmental actions. Users can report polluted areas on a map, participate in problem-solving, connect with other users, and compete through a leaderboard.
We congratulate our students and wish them continued success in their future activities.
