An educational event entitled “Clean Chemistry – Healthy Future” was organized by the Chemistry Faculty volunteers of the BSU Volunteers organization at Baku State University (BSU) in observance of Earth Day.
The primary aim of the event was to inform students about the impacts of chemistry on the Earth and to discuss ways of preventing or minimizing negative environmental effects.
During the event, Deputy Dean for Social Affairs and Student Relations of the Faculty of Chemistry, Taleh Gahramanov, emphasized the importance of chemistry in modern society while also addressing the potential risks associated with its improper application. He encouraged students to deepen their knowledge of environmental responsibility and sustainable chemical practices.
The speakers discussed various environmental challenges linked to chemical processes and substances, explaining their effects on different components of ecosystems. They also highlighted existing and potential measures for reducing environmental damage and promoting more sustainable approaches in scientific and industrial activities.
The program continued with an interactive session during which students answered questions, shared their opinions, and participated in discussions related to environmental protection and the responsible use of chemistry. The exchange of ideas contributed to a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
The event attracted significant interest from participants, who emphasized the importance of organizing similar awareness-raising initiatives on a regular basis. Attendees noted that such activities play an important role in strengthening environmental consciousness and promoting sustainable development among young people.
