The activities carried out at Baku State University (BSU) in the fields of green education and sustainable development have been ფართly featured in an article published on the globally recognized higher education platform Times Higher Education.
The article, titled “Integrating Green Education in Universities: Youth-Led Sustainability at Baku State University”, presents BSU’s efforts to foster an environmentally responsible educational environment, promote student-led initiatives, and institutionalize sustainable development values to an international audience.
It highlights that the green education approach at BSU is systematically embedded in both academic activities and student life. Within this framework, climate and sustainability topics are integrated into curricula at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science, while student engagement in environmental awareness, social responsibility, and sustainability initiatives is actively supported through student organizations and volunteer movements. Environmental student associations and public engagement structures operating at the University further encourage the development and implementation of green projects.
The article emphasizes that BSU’s approach to green education extends beyond academic content, becoming an integral part of daily university life through campus practices, student initiatives, and community engagement. This model contributes to shaping students as responsible, proactive, and sustainability-oriented citizens.
The international presentation of BSU’s experience reflects the University’s growing global recognition in green transformation and sustainable development, while also demonstrating the potential of Azerbaijan’s higher education system in this field.
