Scientific seminar on “Peacekeeping Azerbaijanis” held at BSU
19-02-2026

Baku State University (BSU) hosted a scientific seminar at the History Faculty on the topic of “Peacekeeping Azerbaijanis.”

The seminar featured a presentation by Associate Professor Azad Rzayev, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani History. He highlighted that Azerbaijan, having ended Armenia’s 30-year aggression and restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty, actively contributes to international peace and security. He provided detailed information on the peace policy and peace agenda implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

It was noted that, at a time when armed conflicts and political tensions are increasing globally, the promotion of peace is a central issue on the international agenda. Azerbaijan’s steps to ensure peace and stability in the South Caucasus are closely monitored by the international community and regarded as practical examples.

The seminar emphasized that under President Ilham Aliyev’s guidance, consistent measures are taken to ensure sustainable regional peace, including post-conflict humanitarian initiatives, large-scale reconstruction in liberated territories, promotion of regional communications, and expanded cooperation with international organizations. These actions contribute to building trust and strengthening stability in the region.

It was also noted that Azerbaijani peacekeepers actively represent the country in various international missions, contribute to global security, and demonstrate high professionalism in international security trainings. Within the “Partnership for Peace” program, Azerbaijan collaborates with NATO in addressing instability, conflicts, and threats in Europe and the Euro-Atlantic area, leveraging its geostrategic and geopolitical advantages to maintain international military cooperation aligned with national interests.

The seminar concluded with interactive discussions among participants.
