As part of the events dedicated to Science Day, the Faculty of Biology hosted another scientific seminar focusing on a highly relevant topic. The event brought together faculty leadership, academic staff, master's students, and doctoral researchers.
During the seminar, Leyla Karimova, a doctoral student of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry, delivered a presentation on the investigation of novel biomarkers for breast cancer diagnosis. Her research focused on identifying diagnostically significant indicators in blood serum across different biological subtypes of breast cancer, examining the relationship between novel biomarkers and conventional biochemical parameters, and investigating gene mutations in cases with negative HER-2 expression.
The presenter shared the findings of a study conducted using clinical and laboratory data obtained from 89 women examined at the National Oncology Center between 2023 and 2025. She also introduced the audience to the modern analytical methods employed throughout the research process.
The seminar concluded with scientific discussions among participants, during which questions were addressed and the scientific and practical significance of the study was highlighted.
