A specialist from the Technical Software Department of the Information Technology Center at Baku State University (BSU), Afsane Mustafazade, participated in a roundtable on "Cybersecurity in the Telecommunications Sector," organized by the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan (AKTA).
The main goal of the event was to discuss issues related to ensuring cybersecurity in the telecommunications sector, which is considered a critical information infrastructure, evaluate current opportunities and challenges, and explore methods to combat new threats.
Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service, the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Information and Communication Technologies Agency, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the Media Development Agency, the Audiovisual Council, as well as telecommunications operators and companies that are members of AKTA, participated in the event.
During the roundtable, important issues such as measures taken to ensure cybersecurity in the telecommunications sector, regulatory mechanisms, combating hybrid threats and disinformation, managing cyber incidents, strengthening human resources, and effective information exchange were discussed. A BSU staff member shared thoughts on developing human capital in the field of cybersecurity and the role the academic sector can play in this regard.
The event also included a presentation of the cyber threat information exchange platform created by the National Cybersecurity Center of the State Security Service, with detailed information provided about its capabilities.
