A roundtable discussion on the topic "Scientific Innovation and Biotechnology: New Perspectives in Ensuring Ecological Balance Sustainability" was held at Baku State University (BSU) on March 27 as part of a series of events dedicated to "Science Day" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized by the Faculty of Biology.
The Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Professor Afət Məmmədova, emphasized that the preservation of ecological balance, rational use of natural resources, and protection of water, soil, and air from pollution have become global challenges. She discussed the role of scientific innovations and biotechnology in maintaining ecological balance and promoting sustainable development.
The Director-General of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Education, Academician İradə Hüseynova, spoke about the impact of biotechnology on modern ecosystems and new research directions in this field. The Director-General of the Institute of Microbiology, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), Pənah Muradov, provided extensive information on the role of microbiology in preserving ecological balance. Professor Elmixan Cəfərov, head of the Radiobiology Laboratory at the Institute of Radiation Problems, discussed the impact of radioactive contamination on biodiversity and exchanged ideas on innovative solutions in this area. Professor Nəriman İsmayılov, senior researcher at the Institute, presented the latest developments in the application of biotechnological innovations in industry and agriculture.
The roundtable also discussed future collaboration opportunities, and the participants' questions were answered. At the end of the event, participants emphasized the critical role of scientific innovations in solving ecological problems and noted the importance of conducting more extensive research in this field.
