A scientific seminar dedicated to global climate change was held at Baku State University (BSU) under the organization of the Student Scientific Society (SSC) as part of the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World."

Students from the faculties of Ecology and Soil Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Journalism, Geography, Philology, Mechanics and Mathematics, Social Sciences and Psychology, Information and Document Management, International Relations and Economics, History, and Oriental Studies participated in the seminar.

Mais Suleymanov, the director of the Center for Organizing Scientific Activities and Innovations at BSU, noted that hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku is a testament to the deep trust and respect the international community has for Azerbaijan. This affirms the country's status as a responsible and reliable partner in addressing global challenges.

Parvana Khidirova, the deputy chair of the Public Union "Center for Global Cooperation and Analytical Research," presented videos on projects aimed at addressing water issues in Azerbaijan's arid regions under the COP29 framework.

Elchin Sardarov, the COP29 coordination coordinator for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Azerbaijan, discussed the causes and consequences of climate change, sustainable development goals, clean environments, and the role of ecological journalism in his presentation on "Global Climate Change."

Elana Alizade, a climate change expert from WWF Azerbaijan, spoke on "The Ecological Aspects of Climate Change and Adaptation," providing information on the requirements of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Gunel Hajaliyeva, the chair of the Ecology and Soil Science Faculty at BSU's Student Scientific Society, informed participants about the role of youth in preventing climate change and protecting the environment.
