A collaborative effort between Baku State University and the "Regional Development" Public Union culminated in an educational seminar and a cleanup campaign in honor of April 22 - International Earth Day.

Within the framework of the event, the teachers of BSU gave detailed information to the students in secondary schools No. 119 and 256 of Baku city about climate change, its impact on the ecosystem, environment, and human health, and the responsibilities of students in protecting the environment. Ramin Samadov, serving as the Head of the Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Policy Department at BSU, along with Rashad Jabarov, the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee, underscored the significance of the occasion in their respective addresses, elaborating on the governmental strategies enacted for environmental preservation within our nation. Subsequently, BSU lecturers, namely Kismet Khanbabayev, who discussed the geographical distribution and significance of renewable energy sources, Mahluga Yusifova, who addressed the issue of climate change and its repercussions on Azerbaijan, Giyas Bayramov, who examined the root causes of water resource contamination, and Gunel Sariyeva, who delved into global environmental challenges and their aftermath, provided insights and fielded inquiries from the student body.

Subsequently, the event proceeded with the active involvement of volunteers from both institutions in a shoreline cleanup initiative in the Turkan settlement area. The culmination of the event featured a spirited flash mob organized by the volunteers, who unveiled a poster bearing the inscription "Earth Day."

It is noteworthy that the primary objective of this initiative is to raise public awareness regarding the significance of the occasion, to impart environmental consciousness, particularly among adolescents, and to foster a sense of responsibility towards environmental stewardship and the preservation of nature.
