An event dedicated to the World Environmental Education Day was held at BSU
27-01-2024

Talking about the nature of environmental problems at the event, Associate Professor of the Department of Soil Science and Real Estate Cadastre of BSU Azer Jafarov said: "In order to protect the environment, we must change the attitude towards nature on a global scale, we must move from a consumer society to a society that protects nature. This transition requires the establishment of international control over the world's natural resources, their fair distribution among nations, the writing of the "International Ecological Code", and the massification of environmental education, which serves to build ecological culture.

Nijat Hasanov, the second-year student of the faculty, made a speech and emphasized the importance of environmental education in directing public attention to environmental problems, their solution, and preventing possible complications in the future.

Dean Akif Aghbabali expressed his belief that the students studying at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science will become a leading force in environmental protection and environmental education for Azerbaijan and the world in the future.

It should be noted that the modern environmental education movement received international status in June 1972 at the "Human Environment" conference of the United Nations in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The Stockholm agreement was signed at the 21st plenary session of the conference. The agreement includes 26 principles on the environment and sustainable development. One of the principles is called "Environmental education is important".
