Baku State University (BSU) announces a competition for the nomination of "Young Scientist of the Year" dedicated to the Day of Azerbaijani Youth on February 2.
“Young Scientist of the Year” Nomination Competition
Baku State University (BSU) is organizing the “Young Scientist of the Year” competition, which is traditionally held to honor the Day of Azerbaijani Youth on February 2. The aim of this competition is to reward BSU students, master’s and doctoral students, and employees (up to the age of 35) who have demonstrated active scientific activity during the year, achieved high scientific results, published research papers and other scientific works in influential journals indexed in recognized databases with an impact factor, and have been cited in other scientific works, as well as distinguished by their high scientific and organizational activities.
Prizes for the competition winners:
The winners of the competition will receive the title “Young Scientist of the Year” and will be awarded a diploma and monetary prize in the following two categories:
- Natural, Exact, and Technical Sciences – 1 prize (2000 AZN)
- Humanities and Social Sciences – 1 prize (2000 AZN)
The submitted documents will be evaluated based on established criteria, and each aspect will be weighted accordingly.
Eligibility Requirements for Participation:
To participate in the competition, candidates must meet the following requirements for 2024:
- In the field of natural, exact, and technical sciences, at least one article must be published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and/or Scopus databases.
- In the field of humanities and social sciences, at least one article must be published in journals included in the Web of Science, Scopus, ERIH PLUS, Philosopher's Index, Copernicus, Ulakbim, PsycINFO, EconLit, or other reputable international indexing and abstracting systems (databases).
Required Documents for Participation:
Participants must submit the following documents:
- The original or a copy (PDF format with DOI and internet link) of the article published in 2024.
- The original or a copy (PDF format) of any monographs, books, atlases, or reviews published in 2024.
- A copy of any inventions or patents obtained in 2024.
- The number of citations of scientific works in 2024 (excluding self-citations) (H-index, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Google Scholar statistics with links).
- Multidisciplinary and applied scientific works (to be substantiated).
- Participation in national and international scientific conferences, symposiums, and other events (including online), with the name, link, and copies of the event program and abstracts.
- Participation in national and international grants (specific year).
- Teaching activities in 2024 (specific year).
- Scientific popularization activities, including scientific and popular science talks, TV, radio, internet TV appearances, media interviews, articles (with copies, or internet links for large materials).
- The presence of personal professional profiles on platforms such as ResearchGate, Mendeley, Academia, Google Scholar, LinkedIn, etc. (with links).
Competition Timeline:
- Documents for participation can be submitted in electronic format or in paper form starting from January 8, 2025.
- The final date for submitting documents is January 27, 2025, by 17:00.
How to Submit Documents:
- Participants must submit their application and supporting documents electronically to the email address: elm-innovasiyalar@bsu.edu.az.
- Only BSU master's, doctoral students, and employees can participate individually.
- The competition does not allow collective awards; each scientific work (article, etc.) can only be submitted by one participant, and this must be agreed upon with co-authors in writing, with this agreement included in the submission documents.
- If the scientific work (article, etc.) has been co-authored, the responsibility for informing foreign co-authors about the competition and its conditions lies with the applicant.
- Winning works in this competition cannot be submitted to other BSU competitions in the same year.
Responsibility: The applicant is responsible for the accuracy of the documents and other materials submitted. Any documents submitted outside the competition's established rules and deadlines will not pass the technical expert review and will not be considered in the main evaluation. Paper documents are generally not returned.
If false information or incorrect documents are submitted at any stage of the competition, the participant will be excluded from the current and future competitions.
