30-01-2025

You Xin is pursuing doctoral studies at the Faculty of International Relations and Economics of Baku State University (BSU) through the Intergovernmental Scholarship Program. Having completed her Master's degree at BSU as well, You Xin is conducting scientific research on the topic "Azerbaijan-China International Relations." While expanding her knowledge in this field, she also aims to contribute to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and China.

You Xin emphasizes that the years she spent in Azerbaijan and at BSU have been very valuable for her, highlighting that the knowledge and experience she gained here played an important role in her development:

  • How did you decide to study in Azerbaijan?
  • During my studies in China, my university professors spoke about the opportunity to study in Azerbaijan. I learned about the Intergovernmental Scholarship Program and decided to apply. After hearing that Azerbaijan's education system in the field of international relations is at a high level, I found studying here even more appealing.
  • How do you remember your first years of education at BSU?
  • It was a period full of unforgettable moments for me. I made many friends, and being surrounded by warm relationships motivated me even more. Azerbaijan's education system, its hospitable people, and its social environment have been very beneficial for me. This positive experience directed me to continue my studies in Azerbaijan.
  • What experiences have you gained during your education?
  • My Master's degree was in international journalism and information policy. During my Master's studies, I interned at AZERTAC. AZERTAC has strong ties with Xinhua, the Chinese State News Agency. AZERTAC, as a state agency with broad and diverse international relations, gave me very valuable experience. During my internship, I gained deep knowledge both in Azerbaijan's internal news and foreign relations.
  • What is your current research topic?
  • Currently, I am conducting research in the field of international relations between Azerbaijan and China. My Master's thesis focused on media relations between Azerbaijan and China. My interest in deepening the relations between these two countries inspired my doctoral research. My goal is to propose specific suggestions in my country regarding the development and strengthening of cooperation with Azerbaijan.
  • How did you adapt to Azerbaijani culture?
  • When I first arrived in Azerbaijan, I experienced cultural shock because there were many differences. However, over time, I had no difficulty adapting to Azerbaijani culture. I am particularly drawn to the Novruz holiday. The Spring Festival is also celebrated in China, and both countries have similar traditions around the holiday, such as cleaning, making sweets, and lighting fires. These similarities provided a unique experience for me and made the cultural integration process easier.
  • What is your favorite thing about Azerbaijan?
  • The hospitality and sincerity of the Azerbaijani people have greatly impressed me. These qualities made me feel closer to Azerbaijan. The experiences here have been very valuable to me, both academically and personally.
  • How do you see the future of relations between China and Azerbaijan?
  • I believe that the relations between China and Azerbaijan have great potential. These relations can further deepen, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, and culture. China's close relations with Azerbaijan will be beneficial for both countries. In the future, more joint projects and initiatives can be implemented.
  • What are your plans for the future?
  • After returning to my country, I want to conduct deeper research in the field of international relations between Azerbaijan and China and participate in various projects in this area. I also intend to work on developing intercultural relations.
