Cooperation opportunities between the Ministry of Agriculture and BSU discussed

The Minister of Agriculture, Mecmun Memmedov, met with the Rector of Baku State University (BSU), Elchin Babayev. During the meeting, the possibilities for cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Baku State University were discussed.

Opening the event, Minister Mecmun Memmedov provided detailed information on the main directions of the agrarian development strategy in the country, state support for the agrarian sector, the Ministry's activities, and the innovative projects being implemented. He noted that, as in all sectors of the economy, particular importance is attached to the development of the agrarian sector and the application of high technologies in this area.

Minister Memmedov emphasized that the intensive development of agriculture is directly dependent on professional personnel. He added that there is an increasing need for qualified specialists who are capable of effectively using modern technology and techniques that enhance productivity in the agrarian sector in Azerbaijan. Based on this, he highlighted the importance of cooperation with Baku State University, which is renowned for its high-quality specialist training in higher education.

In response, Rector Elchin Babayev provided detailed information about the university’s material and technical base, the preparation of specialists for the labor market, the improvement of their professional skills, and the scientific research conducted at the university. He stated that one of the main objectives is to prepare highly qualified pedagogical, engineering-technical, and scientific specialists who possess fundamental knowledge and innovative research skills, are competitive in both international and national labor markets, and are trained in a spirit of patriotism.

During the meeting, the issues of strengthening human resources, scientific research, and production-related cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Baku State University were discussed in detail. Both parties expressed their confidence that collaboration in education and scientific research would make a significant contribution to the development of the agrarian sector.
