At the initiative of the "Avisenna" club of the "BSU volunteers" organization of Baku State University, a meeting was held at the Republican AIDS Center of the Ministry of Health.
Director of the institution, Famil Mammadov, spoke about the work done in the center to detect the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which is a serious threat to health, and the treatment of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), as well as the conditions created here for examination and treatment in accordance with the requirements of the legislation. He said that the Center has departments equipped with the necessary equipment and a laboratory that meets modern requirements.
At the meeting, the head of the Epidemiological control and prevention department of the Center, Sabuhi Aliyev, made a presentation on the topic "Epidemiological situation and countermeasures related to HIV infection/AIDS in Azerbaijan". The deputy director of the center, Gunesh Jafarova, clarified questions related to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of HIV group diseases.
Then the students were closely acquainted with the examination process in the laboratory of the Center.
