19-07-2024

Starting from the new academic year, Baku State University (BSU) will offer a bachelor's degree in “Environmental Engineering” at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science.

Graduates of this program will gain expertise in environmental protection, advanced techniques for addressing ecological issues, efficient water treatment technologies, soil reclamation, and development of mathematical models for ecological and natural processes. They will also master waste recycling systems, GIS applications for environmental protection, and methods for enhancing agricultural productivity using ecological and aerospace technologies. Additional skills include ecological design, aerospace and environmental monitoring, and the analysis of terrestrial and satellite imagery.

Students will also be trained in the identification and mitigation of major pollution sources, methods for protecting the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere from industrial contamination, as well as managing environmental hazards related to technological processes and forest fires. They will learn about sewage treatment, the effects of noise, vibration, electricity, and radiation on organisms, and risk assessment techniques.

Career opportunities for graduates include roles in environmental protection, transportation management, energy systems, oil and gas, chemical industries, waste management, agriculture, and aerospace research. They will gain practical experience through internships at BSU, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the National Aerospace Agency, "Azercosmos" OJSC, and other relevant organizations.
