An open discussion on "Gender Equality in Azerbaijan" was organized by the "Sustainable Development Goals" club under the "BDU Volunteers" organization.

During the discussion, various meanings of the term "gender" in modern society and its manifestations were explored. It was emphasized that gender equality and the highest level of protection for women's rights in Azerbaijan are results of the state policies established by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. The discussion also highlighted the provisions in the "Law on Guarantees of Gender (Men and Women) Equality" of the Republic of Azerbaijan and how the established legal framework regulates this area, with oversight provided by relevant state institutions.

It was noted that the fifth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by world leaders at the UN in 2015, is dedicated to gender equality. By 2030, countries around the world have identified priorities for addressing each goal to achieve all targets.
