Over 655,000 users utilized Scientific Library of BSU last year

Baku State University's (BSU) Scientific Library, known for its extensive collection and catalog-card system, serves not only the university community but also many researchers involved in scientific research across the country.

According to BSU, in 2022, the Scientific Library's collection was enriched with over 12,000 documents from various sources (excluding newspapers). Approximately 9,000 of these items were printed books, dissertations, abstracts, programs, and journals. The library had 10,610 registered users, including 2,530 academic staff and 8,080 students. In 2022, the library served 655,125 users, providing 954,624 copies of literature. Over 10,000 users accessed electronic resources.

In 2022, users primarily utilized electronic resources from databases such as "Academic Search Premier," "MasterFILE," "GreenFILE," "Library," "Information Science & Technology Abstracts," "Business Source Premier," and "eBooks." Additionally, the library established agreements with publishers like "Brill" (333 journals), "Cambridge University" (387 journals), "Taylor and Francis" (127 journals), and "Walter Kluwer Health" (2 journals), providing articles at discounted rates through the Azerbaijan Library Information Consortium (Az.KIK).

The library offered BSU's faculty, young researchers, and users free three-month access to the EBSCO eBook Academic Collection, which includes over 200,000 electronic books, and one-month access to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

An online series of six-month training seminars on the use of international publishers' resources, including article publication with "Sage," was conducted.

The Scientific Library also held a training seminar titled "Use of Academic Databases and Publication Opportunities" for the faculty, graduate students, and researchers of Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan University of Languages, Baku Business University, and the State Customs Committee Academy.
