Research on hybrid energy systems is conducted at BSU
23-04-2024

Baku State University (BSU) and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (KOBIA) jointly organized a scientific seminar titled "Hybrid Energy Systems and Their Future Prospects," in alignment with the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World." Mais Suleymanov, Director of BSU's Center for Organization of Scientific Activities and Innovations, highlighted Azerbaijan's significant potential in renewable energy sources. He noted the country's recent endeavors towards developing renewable energy sources and gradually reducing reliance on traditional energy systems. Suleymanov emphasized the importance of hybrid energy systems, which integrate multiple energy sources, including wind, solar, water, geothermal, and others. These systems offer the advantage of year-round energy production. Suleymanov encouraged young researchers to actively engage in research on such pertinent topics.

Mustafa Muradov, Deputy Director of BSU's Center of Excellence for Research, Development, and Innovations, and Head of the Nano research Laboratory highlighted the opportunities available to young individuals through grant competitions initiated by KOBIA and the Youth Fund, aimed at facilitating the implementation of their scientific and technical projects.

During the seminar, Orkhan Gulahmadov, a junior researcher at Nano research ETL and recipient of the 4th grant competition for financing education, science, research, and support projects of SMEs, delivered a presentation on green energy sources, the global energy crisis, and contemporary trends in addressing it. He elaborated on "Hybrid-shaped generators based on triboelectric nanogenerators" and provided comprehensive insights into the project's progress, particularly focusing on the development of an energy system integrated into a smart backpack. The attendees at the event positively assessed the significance of such innovative projects.
