A scientific seminar was held at the Faculty of Chemistry of Baku State University (BSU) on March 27th, dedicated to "Science Day" in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The seminar was attended by the faculty staff, doctoral candidates, and master's students.

The Dean of the Faculty, Fuad Kerimli, provided detailed information on the achievements in scientific research over the past year. He noted that faculty members had published 223 articles, 125 of which were in indexed journals. Two grant projects are currently being implemented by the faculty. Eleven significant scientific results from the faculty members have been included in the list of major findings by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Based on the agreement signed in 2021 between BSU and the Satbayev University of Kazakhstan, a joint dual diploma program in "Petrochemistry" at the master's level is being conducted. Furthermore, following the results of the “Young Scientist of the Year” competition dedicated to the Day of Azerbaijani Youth on February 2, the scientific worker of the Faculty’s Fine Organic Synthesis Research Laboratory, Gulnar Atakishieva, was awarded a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize for her outstanding scientific results. To increase youth interest in science, faculty students participate in both international and national Olympiads. Students from the faculty have been awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the Republican Olympiad in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography, which was held in honor of the 101st anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth and the 105th anniversary of BSU.

During the event, Professor Rasim Alosmanov, head of the Department of High Molecular Compounds Chemistry, delivered a report on “Smart Polymer Materials.” He provided detailed information on the main types of responsive polymers to various stimuli, their role and prospects in modern times, and the scientific research being conducted in this field at the department.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where the participants had their questions answered.
