Scientific seminar on the distribution of underground water in Tartarchay at BSU
02-03-2023

A scientific seminar was held at the Faculty of Geology of Baku State University (BSU) on the topic "Regulations of distribution of groundwater in the Tartarchai field and its effect on the eco-meliorative situation". Gunay Huseynova, a teacher of the Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, gave a report at the seminar.

The speaker gave information about the formation of modern and IV period sediments at different depths within the boundaries of the Tartarchay cone. He noted that the depth of groundwater varies from 1 to 10 m and approaches the earth's surface from west to east. The depth of their settlement is formed depending on the geomorphological features of the cone, the character of the relief, the lithological composition of the rocks and the drainage coefficient, the feeding conditions and consumption of groundwater. Pressurized water horizons are widespread in the area of the Tertarchay bearing cone. While in the high areas of the yield cone, groundwater forms a single pressure-free aquifer horizon, it is separated into several aquifer layers due to layering with well-permeable and impermeable sediments in vertical directions towards the periphery zone. The upper aquifer is considered as non-pressurized water. In pressurized aquifers, water pressure increases with depth. Groundwater forms an underground pressure water complex with the same nutrient source and hydraulic connections.

At the end, the questions of the seminar participants were answered and discussions were held.
