The Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at Baku State University (BSU) collaborated with the Water and Reclamation Scientific Research Institute of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA) to organize a training session on "The Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources."
Akif Agbabali, Dean of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at BSU, and Ahliman Verdiyev, Deputy Director of the Water and Reclamation Scientific Research Institute of ADSEA, highlighted the significance of Azerbaijan hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29). They also underscored the various activities carried out by the agency, including water extraction, processing, transportation, supply, reclamation, irrigation, and management of water resources.
During the training, Hamlet Fattayev, head of the department at the Reclamation Scientific Research Institute of ADSEA, discussed the capabilities of the SCADA system in assessing and managing water resources. Students received comprehensive information about the importance of water resource management, priority directions, and the advantages of digital technology in this field.
Subsequently, experts from the Institute, Gunay Abbasova, and Fidan Aliyeva, delivered reports on the "Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources" and the "Impact of Modern Climate Change on Aquatic Life," respectively.
The session concluded with a Q&A session where students had their queries addressed, and active participants were presented with gifts.
