At Baku State University (BSU), various projects are being implemented to increase the public activity of staff and students, encourage their more active participation in the university's and the country's socio-cultural and social life, engage them in large-scale social projects, and organize cultural and mass events. Effective efforts are being made to develop and strengthen mutual relations between BSU and state and non-governmental organizations, as well as public associations, in the realization of joint social projects.
As every year, in 2024, the connections between BSU and state organizations, prestigious institutions, and public associations were expanded, and the number of joint social projects doubled. Last year, more than 900 events were held at BSU in the fields of state youth policy, humanitarian issues, the study of Heydar Aliyev’s legacy and the ideology of Azerbaijanism, the promotion of national and spiritual values, etc.
Throughout 2024, the university's domestic cooperation relations were expanded. During the year, BSU signed memorandums of cooperation with the "Veysəloğlu Group of Companies" LLC, the National Deposit Center, the Education Development Fund (EDF), the National Library of Azerbaijan (NLA), Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU), the International Turkish Culture Organization (TÜRSK), and the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice. Opening ceremonies were held for the "NewsLab" room of "ARB 24" TV, the Azerbaijan Press Council (AMP) room, the "Turkish Room", the "Debate Room" of the "Xalq" newspaper, and the special auditorium of the Media Development Agency.
Last year, the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" action plan was developed and successfully implemented at BSU. Over the year, more than 70 events, seminars, meetings, intellectual competitions, etc., were held to promote environmental protection among the younger generation.
Within the framework of the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), which further enhances the international reputation of our country, nearly 30 events were organized at BSU. It should be particularly noted that 537 BSU students volunteered at this international event and were awarded by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
In 2024, several special projects and events were carried out at BSU. Among them were the BSU Student Youth Organization's "Youth Week 2", "From Student to Schoolchild", and "COP29 Week" projects, the "I Young Cultural Journalists School" in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Press Council, a Book Exhibition dedicated to April 23 - World Book and Copyright Day, the Career Festival organized with the support of the State Employment Agency, a cleaning campaign with the "Regional Development" Public Union, a medical campaign at BSU by the National Ophthalmology Center named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, a training program "The Beginning of the Right Path" with "Kapital Bank", the "Young Programmers" competition with the financial support of the Youth Fund, the "Young Leaders" Forum, the "BDU Volunteers' Week", the "National Leader: Heydar Aliyev Lectures" project, a Republican conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the BSU Student Trade Union Committee, the "Heydar Aliyev Lectures" project with the YAP Yasamal district organization, a series of meetings with the winners of the "Yüksəliş" competition, and a COP model simulation conference on "Global Climate Finance: Fair and Sustainable Solutions".
BSU's student organizations, as always, were active last year. Over the year, the BSU Student Youth Organization organized 161 events, the Student Trade Union Committee organized 126, and the "BDU Volunteers" organization held 389 events. The events primarily focused on state youth policy, the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", national ideology, the ideology of Azerbaijanism, promoting national and spiritual values, and fostering patriotism. In 2024, volunteer activities at BSU were expanded. BSU students successfully participated as volunteers in nationwide social projects. The "BDU Volunteers" organization currently has 1,500 members. BSU's student organizations participated in more than 100 different events, projects, competitions, and trainings outside the university during the year.
Last year, BSU students participated in over 40 different international and domestic competitions, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of the state youth policy in our country.
