For the first time, Baku State University (BSU) will offer a master’s specialization in Food Chemistry at its Faculty of Chemistry beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Food Chemistry specialization is designed to prepare highly qualified professionals in the study of the chemical composition of food products, the evaluation of food quality and safety, the investigation of chemical processes occurring during food processing and storage, and the analysis of food additives.
Through the program, students will acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the chemical analysis of food products, chemical changes during processing and storage, food safety and quality control systems, the identification of food additives and contaminants, the use of modern analytical instruments and laboratory techniques, as well as international food standards and regulatory requirements.
The primary objective of the specialization is to educate professionals capable of working in the food industry, food safety, and laboratory sectors. During their studies, students will gain hands-on experience in modern laboratories and participate in applied projects focused on evaluating the safety and quality of food products.
Graduates of the Food Chemistry specialization will be qualified to pursue careers in food manufacturing companies, food safety and certification agencies, analytical and accredited laboratories, higher education institutions, research institutes, as well as organizations specializing in quality control and standardization.
The new specialization will make a significant contribution to strengthening Azerbaijan’s food safety system, supporting the development of the domestic food industry, and preparing highly qualified professionals who meet international standards.
