Beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year, Baku State University (BSU) will introduce a new Master's specialization in Geography of the Turkic World at the Faculty of Geography.
The specialization focuses on the historical and geographical development, economic and social geography, physical geography, cultural heritage, regional integration, and geopolitical significance of the Turkic states and peoples. As cooperation among Turkic countries continues to expand through joint scientific, cultural, and strategic initiatives, the demand for highly qualified specialists in this field is increasing.
The program will provide graduate students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the historical and geographical development of the Turkic world, natural resources, economic and social geography, regional cooperation, cultural heritage, and integration processes. Students will develop the ability to conduct scientific research, prepare analytical reports, participate in national and international projects, and present their findings in both Azerbaijani and other Turkic languages.
The curriculum will also offer opportunities to apply modern research methodologies, engage in international scientific collaborations, contribute to projects involving Turkic states, publish academic articles, and present research at international conferences.
Graduates of the specialization will be prepared for careers in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijani embassies and consulates in Turkic states, international organizations, research institutes, higher education institutions, government and private organizations operating in tourism and cultural heritage, non-governmental organizations, and platforms implementing projects related to the Turkic world.
The establishment of this specialization aims to promote research on the history, geography, and cultural heritage of the Turkic world, educate specialists capable of addressing contemporary regional challenges, and strengthen scientific, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation among Turkic states.
