An awareness-raising event titled “combating drug addiction: preventive methods and socio-analytical perspectives” was held at Baku State University (BSU) on the joint initiative of the Student Youth Organization (SYO), the “BSU Volunteers” organization, the Student Scientific Society (SSS), and the Student Trade Union Committee.
During the event, Deputy Chair of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of International Relations and Economics Zahra Ahmadli, SYO Chair Gulnar Babayeva, Faculty Chair of “BSU Volunteers” Ismayil Ibrahimov, Deputy Chair Togrul Shakhtakhtinski, as well as members of the executive boards of the SSS and the Student Trade Union Committee Ali Novruzlu and Tural Isgandarzade, spoke about the importance of preventive methods in combating drug addiction.
The speakers emphasized that this issue is not only legal but also has social, psychological, and economic dimensions. It was noted that strengthening awareness among young people, applying early intervention mechanisms, and promoting a healthy lifestyle are key tools in preventing drug addiction. The role of the social environment, family institution, and educational institutions was highlighted as critically important, with the understanding that effective results require a comprehensive approach.
The speakers also analyzed the societal impact of drug addiction from statistical and analytical perspectives, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts by government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and civil society.
The event concluded with interactive discussions, during which participants’ questions were answered.
