15-07-2026

Beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year, Baku State University (BSU) will introduce a new Master's specialization in Geopolitics at the Faculty of International Relations and Economics.

The new specialization is designed to prepare highly qualified professionals capable of analysing the role of geographical, political, economic, and strategic factors in international relations, examining interactions among global power centres, and interpreting contemporary geopolitical developments.

The curriculum will provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in classical and contemporary geopolitical theories, regional and global power dynamics, energy geopolitics, transport corridors, geoeconomic processes, the geopolitical dimensions of international conflicts, and strategic planning.

The programme aims to educate professionals who can assess international developments from a geopolitical perspective, conduct strategic analyses, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making processes.

Graduates will be qualified to pursue careers in government institutions, think tanks, international organizations, research institutes, media organizations, consulting firms, and other institutions engaged in international relations and strategic studies.

The introduction of the new specialization is expected to strengthen geopolitical research, enhance strategic analysis capacity, and improve the quality of professional training in the field of international relations.
