Twelve students from the Faculties of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics, Mechanics and Mathematics, and the SABAH groups at Baku State University (BSU) have successfully graduated from the internationally delivered IT SkillSprint intensive training programme.

BSU was represented by third-year students majoring in Information Security, Computer Science, and Mathematics: Kenan Rasulov, Raul Ibrahimov, Seljan Khasiyeva, Zarifa Musayeva, Asif Habilov, Jamil Jafarli, Aykhan Agayev, Yunis Sadiq, Yagut Rasulbeyli, Islam Samedov, Gurbanali Gurbanaliyev, and Turan Babasoy.

As part of the programme, Jamil Jafarli, a third-year student from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics, received the Special Jury Award at the final hackathon for his environmental project, "Grove," which focuses on addressing ecological challenges.

The programme was implemented through the partnership of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Science and Education, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and the international education company Ironhack. It aims to prepare highly qualified IT professionals in line with the demands of the digital economy.

Participants completed hybrid-format training in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, Web Development and Artificial Intelligence, and DevOps and Artificial Intelligence. Through the bootcamp-based programme, students worked on real-world projects, built professional portfolios, participated in hackathons, attended career fairs, and expanded their professional networks to improve their employability. The six-month programme ran from February to July 2026.

During the closing ceremony, speakers highlighted that nearly 10,000 graduates have benefited from educational initiatives implemented by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency. In the first phase of the IT SkillSprint programme, 120 of 123 selected students from nine Azerbaijani universities successfully completed the 20-week, 450-hour training programme.

The speakers emphasized that this collaboration between government institutions, universities, and the private sector equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by today's labour market while strengthening Azerbaijan's digital human capital. It was also announced that the competencies gained through the programme will be recognized by participating universities and credited as part of students' academic studies.

Students who successfully completed the programme received internationally recognized Ironhack certificates.
