Chess tournament dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth held at BSU

A chess tournament dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been organized through the joint initiative of the “BSU Volunteers” organization, the Azerbaijan Volunteer Organizations Union (AVOU), the “Migration Volunteer” Public Union, and EduLAB Chess School.

Rector of Baku State University (BSU) Elchin Babayev expressed his gratitude to the organizers for implementing a project dedicated to the legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He noted that such initiatives carried out by student organizations play an important role in enhancing the intellectual development of young people and wished success to all participants.

Deputy Head of the Main Department for Migration Policy and Legal Support of the State Migration Service, Kayan Hajiyev, emphasized that the attention and care shown by the National Leader toward youth continue today under the country’s leadership. He highlighted the support provided to the volunteer movement within state institutions and noted that the tournament is part of this broader policy and vision.

Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Volunteer Organizations Union, Kamran Mammadov, stated that young people are regarded as the country’s greatest source of strength and that the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated in an interactive and dynamic format.

Chairperson of the “Migration Volunteer” Public Union, Shabnam Ibrahimli, underlined that the tournament brought together intelligence, strategic thinking, and healthy competition, and wished the participants success.

Following the opening remarks, Rahima Majidova, Director of EduLAB Chess School, explained the tournament rules to the participants.

Young representatives from various volunteer organizations competed after being paired through a draw. After three rounds of competition, Yasaman Mammadova won first place, Aydin Akbarov secured second place, and Nurlan Mammadli finished third.

The winners were awarded certificates and medals.
