An online meeting was held between Baku State University (BSU) and the Baku Regional Office of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation. Participants included Mahir Pirquliyev, Head of the Rector’s Secretariat at BSU; Alakbar Khidirov, Manager of ICESCO’s regional office; and Aytan Eyvazzade, interpreter and commentator of the regional office.
The parties discussed the organization of an international conference on “The Role of Translation” planned to be held in Baku later this year. The conference aims to bring together experts from ICESCO member states and Central Asia, highlighting the importance of translation in promoting shared values, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable development.
The meeting also covered one of ICESCO’s key educational initiatives, the “International Language Teaching Program in Arabic”. This program is designed to address the needs of member states that do not speak Arabic and will be implemented in Azerbaijan with the participation of BSU. Its objectives include enhancing the potential of educators and Arabic language teachers, improving teaching methods and language skills, and supporting the development of curricula aligned with modern pedagogical, linguistic, and technological standards.
